Jeeves
There are times, as a pet owner, when I feel like I should change my name to “Jeeves”.
Pets hungry: “Jeeves! I’m peckish.”
Pets want out: “Jeeves, get the door, will you?”
Pets make mess: “Jeeves, be a good chap and scoop that up.”
Pets won’t eat regular food: “Jeeves, cook me up something different tonight, I’m feeling a bit queasy.”
Pets sick: “Jeeves, sleep in the living room with me. I don’t like being alone.”
Pets eat furniture: “Jeeves, order me a new sofa—this time micro-suede!”
Pets need grooming: “Jeeves, I want to look like a masterpiece today and watch it with that brush!”
Pets need love: “Jeeves, put that book down and pay attention to me.”
Pets lost toy: “Jeeves, crawl into that gross dark hole and retrieve my ball!”
Pets don’t like something: “Jeeves, remove that from my presence immediately!”
You get the idea. Sometimes I feel like I live to serve my pets. Except, they don’t provide the finances for my servitude, I do. Would I change it? No. Do I wish that they would give me back rubs and cook and clean? Yes. Will I actually change my name? Undecided. The thing is, when you get pets, you have to understand that you are basically offering yourself up as an unpaid servant. The rewards are great, but the responsibilities are too. In my house, at least, the animals believe that they are royalty and that they are entitled to demand love, food, toys, attention, playtime, and anything else that they desire. It’s my own fault that I have turned into Jeeves. But, I’m nothing if not a sucker for sad eyes and begging.
I too am a servant in my own home… but it’s OK, they deserve it!
Yes, they certainly do! 🙂
We feel like Dobby the House Elf! Allowed out to procure the necessaries then drawn back by magical powers to serve our masters 😉
Oh, I like that even better! Hahahah.
They rule the place, we are their guests and provide for them lol
I’ve never let my hair grow cuz I hate to wate time coming my hair now I have to spend literally 15-30 minutes a days untangling Doggy’s hair with my hand cuz his hair mustn’t be brushed, he’s literally like a sheep, at least doesn’t shed.
Hahaha, that’s too funny! I wish mine didn’t shed, but then again, I don’t think I would enjoy untangling their fur either!
oh yes,
The Howler gives me
“the look” = lets go outside and sit in the sun
a few quick short jumps and a bark = take me out I want to do some business
sitting in plain view with his head angled upward = FEED ME SEYMOUR, FEED ME
I wouldn’t change any of it for the world. 🙂
Hahaha, isn’t is awesome that we are even expected to read their behavior and body language? That takes skill.
Mom said she agrees with you about being at our every beck and call and she is also a sucker for big eyes and cuteness! Just look at me! ~Tigger
You are awfully cute, Tigger! It’s hard for us humans to resist you guys! I think our ultimate kryptonite though, is the “head tilt”!
Great post and so true!
Thank you very much! That means a lot coming from you, I always love your posts!
So true! But you’re so right, its worth it.
I know, eh?! I just can’t say no to them. Buggers.
And they know it too. 😉
I absolutely LOVE that picture of Odin! I can just picture him saying “Um….HELLOOOO?! I’m waiting for my food, Momma!” 😉
Hahaha, I know, he looks so regal and entitled.
Hahaha I can SO relate to this! Odin definitely looks like the king of the castle! 😀
He certainly thinks that he is. The dogs think otherwise. Hahaha.
Oliver informs me that I am paid very well. It’s not like everyone can get paid in head butts and purrs. And I get regular bonus kisses so really, what’s my issue?
Yes, that’s true! I also get paid that way. Unfortunately, I cannot buy new sofas or groceries with those. 🙂
Yo! so what else would ya do with your life??!! MOL If ya luv your anifamily, then you must be human, just sayin’…
I know, I would be pretty bored without them. 🙂
If I stop playing too soon for Lyra’s liking, she’ll let me walk away a few steps, then leap after me, batting the backs of my legs with her paws. After batting me 3 or 4 times, she runs away in a mad, arched-back sideways rush. Claws are never involved in this, so she doesn’t mean to hurt (or so I like to think), just to let me know she’s “very disappointed” with my behaviour.
Hahaha, they all have such interesting personalities. I love when Odin does the sideways run, it’s hilarious. PS-I love ragdolls, they are gorgeous!
Thanks – Odin kind of reminds me of a ragdoll, actually, especially when he does his turkey imitation.
